Joss Arnott Dance – A Movement in 3

Joss Arnott Dance are to commission critically acclaimed composer Quinta to create and develop an original composition for A Movement in 3 (AMI3), the opening dance work in a new triple bill touring programme that commences in Autumn 2017. The piece will tour the UK with 3 performances featuring live music including collaborations with music students at leading universities and conservatoires.

AMI3 will see Quinta and Artistic Director Joss Arnott explore and develop the interplay between choreography and live music. Using Quinta’s playful & experimental style, the piece will explore classical rigor with an experimental imagination. Working collaboratively with the classical forms and taking them into new depths, AMI3 explores the intersections and crossing points of the art forms and internal boundaries such as contemporary/classical /electronica/pop and contemporary dance/ballet/commercial, to create a new work that is both choreographically and musically driven.

Receiving the PRSF grant enables JAD to continue to engage with new, inclusive, diverse audiences with original and high quality creations and to commission and develop the most innovative and inspiring female composers of the current era, following on from the company’s previous PRSF funded tour with Dame Evelyn Glennie in 2015.

JAD are an internationally touring, classical contemporary dance company based at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, West Yorkshire. The company are passionate about building audiences for dance and music and achieve an average audience attendance of 70% from mid-scale touring, enhanced by it’s exciting education projects.
