Kammer Klang at Cafe Oto: 2016-17 Season of New Music
Since 2008 Kammer Klang has staged innovative contemporary classical, improvised and experimental music in east London. For our 2016-17 season, we will present eight nights of performance in Cafe Oto, Dalston, along with three major residencies and around ten free audience events, featuring 75 performers, 26 composers and eight emerging creators as part of our Fresh Klang programme.
Our residency programme commences with a week-long open studio in the Oto Project Space with the American composer and multi-instrumentalist Miles Cooper Seaton. Next, we team the Anglo-Swiss percussion ensemble We Spoke with scientists from UCL and CERN to build “Living Instruments” based on cutting-edge therapeutic protein research from UCL’s Biochemical Engineering lab. Finally, we introduce the lauded Danish ensemble Scenatet to young UK composer-artists Matthew Rogers and Sally O’Reilly to develop a major new commission. Meanwhile, our performance programme spans contemporary classical repertoire from the early 20th century to today, as well as electronics, Tuvan throat singing, performance art, minimalism, spoken word, field recordings and Fluxus.
