Maps - Studio Album (Mute Records)
Maps (James Chapman) is a Mercury Music Prize nominated artist and producer, who has released 3 studio albums on Mute (as well as a remix album). He has toured extensively in the U.K., North America and Europe. Over the years he has collaborated with bands such as M83, Depeche Mode and Bat For Lashes, and remixed over 60 artists in his career, including Moby, The Killers, Susanne Sundfor and Bombay Bicycle Club.
Maps’ fourth studio album is his most ambitious work to date. Almost 3 years in the making, it has seen him push his artistic vision more than ever before. In the past, Chapman has approached his recordings as an entirely solo endeavor, but this album has seen him involve other musicians in the process – orchestral players (for whom he scored the arrangements), female vocalists, a percussionist and drummer.
PRS Foundation’s The Open Fund has helped Maps to achieve this exhilarating step into new territory. The results are an exciting leap forward in Chapman’s musical development.
The album will be released internationally on Mute Records.
