NYO Creative Hub – Composers Residencies

NYO boasts a section you won’t find in any other orchestra: our very own teenage composers. They play a full role in three annual Rehearsal Residencies, writing new music and hearing their ideas brought instantly to life by chamber groups formed of 164 NYO musicians. At the end of each residency this Creative Hub perform an informal, free concert in a major concert hall, in which all of these new compositions are performed.

For winter 2017, NYO commissioned a new work by NYO Principal Composer, Lauren Marshall titled Suspended Between Earth and Air. Lauren‘s work was performed by the NYO in January 2017 at Theatre Royal, Nottingham; Symphony Hall, Birmingham and Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, London.
