PRSF Supports Restormel Arts' Exciting Contemporary Jazz Programme in Mid-Cornwall
Restormel Arts promotes monthly contemporary jazz concerts at an intimate and friendly venue, The Bosuns, at Charlestown harbor in mid-Cornwall. We also enable music students at Cornwall College St Austell to participate in workshops by visiting jazz artists. The winter 2016/17 season includes internationally acclaimed artists – Andy Sheppard‘s Hotel Bristol, Ivo Neame‘s Quintet (Phronesis) and one of the UK’s top jazz vocalists Tina May. Add to this the beat poet adventurer Sarah Gillespie and her star-studded quartet, the impeccable Nigel Price Quartet supported by student band Demeanour, Dave Manington‘s excellent Riff Raff sextet featuring Brigitte Bereha, the virtuoso Oxley/Meier guitar duo and the good-humored and infectious Button Band and you have an excitingly varied programme of jazz of the highest quality.
Our knowledgeable audiences travel from all over Cornwall to attend concerts, have a meal, meet the musicians and buy CD’s. We’re also encouraging young people to participate through the jazz workshops and a student support band.
The PRSF grant enables Restormel Arts to bring major jazz artists to mid-Cornwall and enables musicians to reach new audiences, perform in an intimate venue, create a fan base and sell CD’s.
