Voice and Identity: A Community Song Cycle - Adam's Apple

Who do we sound like we are? And how much do we get to determine our own voice? Invisible, weightless yet everywhere, we’ve all got one. Adam’s Apple is an original song cycle, both exploration and celebration of the voice and gender identity, created by dramatist Alex Bulmer and composer Errollyn Wallen.

Inspired by in-depth conversations with transgender people, their families and friends, speech therapists and neuroscientists, this piece is a vocal journey, sung by members of the LBGT communities, local choirs and Canadian performer, Tristan Whiston. Directed by Polly Thomas, Adam’s Apple will tour the UK summer of 2016, visiting Blackpool, Accrington, London and Manchester. It is presented by Thomas Carter Projects, with support from Wellcome Trust Small Arts Awards, Arts Council England, PRS for Music Foundation and LIFT.
