Deliaphonic

Deliaphonic is a celebration of the life and work of Delia Derbyshire on the 80th anniversary of her birth, in her home town of Coventry. Coventry Cathedral is the perfect setting for our celebration.

As a young child in her home town of Coventry in 1940, the sights and sounds of the Blitz would later help to shape her unique sonic palette. Excelling in mathematics and music, she later went on to work for the legendary BBC Radiophonic Workshop, helping to promote and influence the course of electronic music forever. Best known for the theme tune for Doctor Who, arguably one of the most famous pieces of electronic music ever produced, we will mark the life and legacy of this most remarkable woman with an event involving artists she worked with and collaborated with, as well as leading electronic artists of today who are directly influenced by her work.

Performance line-up:
Pete Kember (Sonic Boom)
Dr Peter Zinovieff
Hannah Peel
Jerry Dammers (DJ set)
Playing ambient and electronic “Library Music” including some by Delia Derbyshire
Howlround
Jonny Trunk – Presenting Circle of Light + DJ Set
