Orchestra of the Swan from Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, is Associate Orchestra at Town Hall, Birmingham with residencies and concert series at Cadogan Hall London, Bedworth and Loughborough; performing at many major concert venues and festivals in the UK.

OOTS is a major champion of new music and has commissioned Joe Cutler, Tansy Davies, Joe Duddell, Alexander Goehr, John Joubert, John McCabe, Roxanna Panufnik, Paul Patterson, Joseph Phibbs, Julian Philips, Robert Saxton, Dobrinka Tabakova, Param Vir, Errollyn Wallen, Shu Wang, John Woolrich and many others.

The PRSF/Royal Philharmonic Society ‘Composer in the House’ award will see Huw Watkins compose 2 major works for OOTS, perform as soloist with the orchestra, recording the Mendelssohn concerto for violin & piano with OOTS Associate Artist Tamsin Waley Cohen and giving pre and post-concert talks.

Friday 21 June will be the world premiere of Watkins’ latest commission as part of a two year residency as Composer in the House with Orchestra of the Swan, a project devised by the Royal Philharmonic Society and supported by the PRS for Music Foundation.
