Paige Palmer: POWER UP Industry Professional

Bio: I am the Founder and Managing Director of Stoke Newington Music School CIC, a London-based music education organisation focused on creating accessible pathways into music for young people from underrepresented communities. Since founding the organisation in 2017, I have supported over 600 students and built a thriving community music hub with a strong focus on improving access to instrumental and classical music education for Black communities and young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. We invest into community access programmes that help remove financial barriers to music education. Alongside instrumental tuition, I have developed connections through mentoring, live performance opportunities, workshops and industry partnerships, helping young musicians gain confidence, experience and insight into the wider music industry. Students from the school have progressed to institutions including The BRIT School, ELAM and Goldsmiths, University of London. Based in Hackney, I see the disparities of wealth and opportunity that shape access to music every day. My work is driven by a belief that young people should feel equipped, supported and on an equal playing field with their peers to explore all areas of music. I am passionate about ensuring students are not limited by social expectations, economic barriers or narrow assumptions about the kinds of music they should pursue. Through Stoke Newington Music School CIC, I am strengthening local talent infrastructure and creating sustainable pathways for young musicians from diverse backgrounds to access professional opportunities within the music industry.

Concise Description of activity: Using POWER UP to strengthen my leadership, expand industry partnerships and create sustainable pathways for young musicians from underrepresented communities.
