JAM is committed to nurturing, commissioning, promoting and performing new music in the UK. Bingham (2006) and Jackson (2008) commissions won British Composer Awards, with O’Regan and Dove short-listed.  Last year JAM commissioned Paul Mealor to write Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal. This was heard by The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and reset as Ubi Caritas; the musical highlight of the recent Royal Wedding.

This new commission, again by Paul Mealor, is called ‘The Farthest Shore’ – an extraordinary Celtic tale inspired by folklore, from the mystic isle of Anglesey, spiritual home to the last of the Druids and the Avalon of Arthurian legend. This tale entwines reality, morality and faith in the quest for an ultimate personal truth. Words by Ben Kaye.
