Bio: PJ Cunningham (she/they) is a Promoter and Creative Producer in Manchester who has created and run theatre productions, queer cabarets and club nights in Manchester & across the UK for the past few years. The Early Career Promoter Fund will support the creation and development of ‘POP up!’ an event trilogy in Manchester that showcases North West early career artists interested in writing musical theatre that incorporates pop music as well as pop music artists and writers. Fusing PJ’s passion for pop music and North West creativity with their experience and love for events, producing theatre and supporting early-career artists. The trilogy will feature: an evening showcase followed by a pop club night, a queer gig night dedicated to platforming LGBTQIA+ artists (acknowledging the queer community’s impact on pop) and a writers showcase at the Lowry as part of their acclaimed musical theatre festival ‘Rewrites’.
