Situated in a small, intimate town on the Herefordshire/Powys border, the Presteigne Festival has become a mecca for those seeking artistic nourishment and musical discovery in idyllic surroundings. With a truly forward looking commissioning policy, the organisation works closely with composers and artists to create and curate inspiring programmes and events for an ever-widening Festival community.

The Festival currently delivers an annual six-day festival at the end of August, specialising in the promotion of contemporary music. It has a rich musical programme, presenting a fresh and individually stylised mix of new work together with standard repertoire. The Festival acts as a catalyst and collaborator with individuals and organisations, supporting living composers by making their music readily accessible. It encourages and nurtures talented young performers and composers and involves the local and wider community in Festival activities through creative opportunities, regularly facilitating innovative education and outreach projects throughout the year.

The PRS for Music Foundation has supported the Presteigne Festival for a number of years now; PRSMF funding enables us to programme and feature British composers, sometimes with as many as fifteen premieres in any single year. It is a financial lifeline and has enabled us to take many risks over the years, giving us the stability to plan for a bright future.
