R.A.E: Glastonbury Emerging Talent Winner 2020
R.A.E (pronounced arr-ay-ee) is a singer, rapper and songwriter pioneering a new sound rooted in 90’s Nostalgia. Her artistry manifests itself in a unique blend of Hip-Hop and R&B, bringing a fresh but nostalgic sound with her easy melodies and uplifting raps.
Growing up influenced by the likes of Left Eye, Da Brat, and MC Lyte, R.A.E’s distinctive style and ability to create feel good music captivates and inspires listeners worldwide. The rapper/singer illustrates relatable experiences and speaks to the young, excited, and label-less people of her generation.
A testament to her skill, R.A.E won the 2020 Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition in less than two years of pursuing music. As a result, she won £5000 and is set to perform on the festival’s main stage in 2021. During this early period of her career, R.A.E has also supported prolific Brazillian rapper/songwriter Emicida on a London tour stop, performed at both Parklife Festival and Roundhouse Rising Festival, and debuted her self-titled EP at #17 on the iTunes France hip-hop/rap chart, at #66 across all genres, and at #40 on the iTunes UK hip-hop/rap chart. Her music also synced on the O2’s Music Social Campaign and her single “Pretty Bop” was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday, This Is How We Do, and We Move playlists.
The award will be supporting the recording, release and live show of R.A.E’s forthcoming project which will be released later on this year.
