New radiophonic works for live and to-air performance

 Resonance
Following on from such works as the BASCA-award winning No Such Object at Edinburgh International Festival; Score for Open Heart Surgery on Charlie Watts at Radiophrenia, Glasgow; and the imminent The Death of Kodak as part of rough for opera in London, the Resonance Radio Orchestra embarks on a particularly intensive period of activity into 2016. The Orchestra’s exploration of a radical aesthetic in which disparate and contradictory sound elements are brought into artistic order has placed them at the forefront in the expanding field of live radiophonic art.

In advance of a major commission as part of Radio Revolten 2, Halle, Germany in 2016, the RRO plans to showcase a suite of new compositions which straddle the area between conceptual art, music theatre, avant-garde composition and radio broadcast. Drawing on elements of post-rock, free improv, sound art and hörspiel, RRO is not above a bit of showmanship, using live boxers or rock climbers, as well as film, comedy, and sleight of hand as the occasion demands.
