Bio: Romarna Campbell, an Olivier Award-winning composer, drummer, and music educator, hails from Birmingham and is now based in London. Known for her dynamic artistry, she has toured globally with acts like Fever Ray, Benjamin Clementine, and Courtney Pine, gracing stages such as the Royal Albert Hall and Sydney Opera House. A Berklee College of Music alumna, Romarna is a mentor and leader of the Frontline Ensemble with Tomorrow’s Warriors, championing music education and community engagement. Her compositional work includes the National Youth Theatre’s The Ancestors and the 2023 Bush Theatre production Sleepova, showcasing her talent for film and theatre scoring. Romarna’s mission is to create music that reflects contemporary realities while inspiring diverse, underrepresented voices to pursue creative careers. Her expertise spans drumming, sound design, orchestration, and conducting workshops, earning her credits with Netflix, Amazon, and Meta. She was also shortlisted for the Jazz Composition 2024 Arts Foundation Futures Awards. As an educator, Romarna’s approachable and innovative teaching style empowers students to explore complex ideas. Drawing on mentorship from figures like Dr. Gary Crosby OBE and Ralph Peterson, she continues to honour her heritage while forging her own trailblazing path.
