Rona Mac : Open Fund for Music Creators
Rona Mac
Rona Mac, a queer alt-folk artist from West Wales, is a trailblazer for expression within music, and truly independent.
Crafted in a caravan-studio in west Wales, their music comes raw and unfiltered, aching with the kind of nostalgia that comes with rural, rugged places.
With a second Album due for release in October, Rona Mac leans into their roots for a de-centralised tour of the UK.
Upcoming work ‘Honeymilk and Heavy Weather’ is tenderly written for a lost friend, and their best work to date. Being a DIY producer and performer, their grass-roots approach to music is tangible and real.
‘Honeymilk and Heavy Weather’ Release and Tour
Rona Mac’s latest Album is due for release in October 2024. For 3 years they have carved these 11 tracks with love, grief and determination, pulling everything into alignment with the what lies at it’s core. There’s a heavy story behind this Album, intertwined with themes of love, loss, mental illness, suicide and water. Mac uses the sounds of fire, rivers, water and wind amongst these tracks, as well as voice notes, spoken word, and all manner of strange and satisfying sounds – always in keeping with honest lyrics, strong melodies, harmonies and riffs that are a trademark of their work, recorded, produced and mixed by Mac in their caravan studio near home in the most westerly tip of Wales. They will be touring this album around 12 rural locations around the UK to decentralise music away from cities, as well as connecting with like-minded people.
