Roxanne Tataei: POWER UP Music Creator
Short Bio: Roxanne Tataei is a voice artist & composer from South London, UK. Roxanne’s most recent works see her creating non-linguistic, Neo – opera & vocal centred music. She has received an MTV Europe music Award nomination, has been listed as part of the BBC sound poll & has toured worldwide extensively, supporting the likes of Florence & The Machine and Grace Jones. Roxanne has worked with & performed at several noted institutions such as The Venice Biennale, The Lincoln centre, the V&A Museum, The Royal Albert Hall and The National Portrait gallery. She has worked on a wide range of projects including Mica Levi & Dean Blunt contemporary opera ‘Inna’ (ICA) and BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Sound Odyssey’ series, where she travelled to Stornoway, Scotland to collaborate with traditional Gaelic Psalm singers, learning an ancient art form on the decline. Roxanne has scored original compositions for Gucci commissioned Film ‘WATA’ Directed by Ronan Mckenzie & Joy Yamusangie, (Best Music at The Fashion Film Festival Milano) & for multidisciplinary artist Rebecca Bellantoni’s piece, ‘You have any peace for me? C.R.Y’, commissioned by the Brent Biennial. Roxanne has also completed several artist residencies, including at The Horniman Museum, where her work there helped win, Art Fund Museum of the Year. And her ‘Southbank Centre Studio’ artist residency, saw her write, compose, direct and perform in her 1st Opera, ‘The Water Carrier’, which is now in developments with both The Royal ballet & Opera & The Southbank Centre.
