New Music North West celebrates the wealth of creative talent in the North West of England, with eight days of performances across Manchester and Salford featuring new music by over 60 composers living and working in the region. The fourth festival of its kind, this year’s New Music North West is bigger, better and more far-reaching than ever before.

The festival features performances by several young, ambitious ensembles formed in the North West, including Trio Atem, House of Bedlam, ACM Ensemble, Sounds of the Engine House and Distractfold, bringing ground-breaking new music to the festival that reaches to the heart of new music-making in the region. These ensembles perform alongside established contemporary music groups Ensemble 10/10 and Psappha, as well as performances by ensembles and students from the RNCM and The University of Manchester. Talks, presentations and masterclasses complete the bill, including an introduction to each and every composer represented in the festival, a talk and masterclass with Edwin Roxburgh, and an insight into the historical instrument group Trio Aporia’s approach to performing new music.
