Royal Philharmonic Society (TDN 2025)
Organisation Biog: The Royal Philharmonic Society has been at the heart of music for over 200 years, creating opportunities for musicians to excel, and championing the vital role music plays in our lives. Our programme of grants, commissions, professional development and performance opportunities helps many performers and composers overcome barriers to progress and fulfil their potential. The annual RPS Awards – described by The Sunday Times as ‘classical music’s biggest night’ – celebrate musical achievements UK-wide telling a vital story of what music-makers do for the benefit of others. Through RPS Membership, we cultivate pride, curiosity and discovery in classical music.
Short Project Title: RPS Composers is year-long development programme for composers with a paid commission, professional development and mentoring to build sustainable careers.
Program Description: commissioning composers dating back to Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Working collaboratively with national partners and diverse composers, we’re fostering a vibrant culture and appreciation for new music, commissioning over 100 early-career composers since 2000.
