Sahra Gure: Women Make Music
Winner of the Musicians’ Company Young Jazz Musician Award 2019, Sahra is already pipped by Jazzwise as ‘one to watch in 2020’ Sahra’s self-released her debut EP ‘Love Me, With Me’ which received support from Bandcamp Daily, BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Worldwide FM, Rinse FM, Jazz FM, Radio Nova & TSF Jazz. Her versatile approach to singing has seen her work with the likes of Orphy Robinson, Dele Sosimi, Cleveland Watkiss MBE, Ashley Henry, Mark Mondesir and Kishon Khan to name a few. Performing London Jazz Festival, Havana Jazz Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Jazz Cafe, Dimensions Festival, WOMAD Festival and many more. Sahra was invited to present her solo work at The Southbank Centre’s futuretense programme and most recently selected to perform at Jazz Re:Fest Online 2020.
In 2021, Sahra plans to record and release her second EP, part funded by the PRS Women Make Music fund. The project will feature music exploring mental health; written and co-produced by Sahra as she continues to develop her sound and production skills. Working with some of London’s finest musicians, recording live at soup studios, Sahra intends on fusing her live sounds with electronic music production.
