Shaye Poulton Richards: The Open Fund for Music Creators

A chamber musical premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Shaye Poulton Richards is a composer, lyricist, and librettist telling stories that explore the whimsical and psychological aspects of day-to-day life with dramatic sensibilities.

A recent graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, she was awarded a TL Innovation Award to begin development of her virtual reality song cycle ‘Upon A Mother’s Death’, a project delving into empathy and grief in a 360° immersive setting.

Shaye creates intimate, sincere, and specific music theatre blending together a mix of contemporary folk and contemporary classical sound worlds.

The PRS Foundation Open Fund will be supporting the premier of a new chamber musical performing a 12-show run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2023.

‘Lies All The Way Down’ is a mature psychological thriller exploring intimacy and personal potential in an infused contemporary folk and contemporary classical setting.

The show follows four work colleagues as they navigate the difficult decision to choose who will lose their job, the fallout thereafter, and all trust broken in-between.
