shelley polaine : Early Career Promoter Fund
About :
Pogo Events has received funding support to explore new ways of working to support further career development opportunities. Pogo Events emerged in 2022 and have hosted around 30 original festival style live music acts in Plymouth. Their focus so far has been welcoming diverse touring bands from the UK and Europe. Pogo Events will use the Early Years Promoter fund to trial four live music nights for local bands on a Sunday, opening up further work opportunities for local, original bands and music industry workers. Hosting Sunday shows will hopefully reach new audiences such as hospitality workers and music industry workers.
The second part of this project plan will allow Shelley from Pogo Events, to spend several days being mentored by an organiser from a successful local music festival, with an aim to learn everything that is involved in organising a small day or overnight event outside. Hosting live music events during summer months hasn’t worked in their usual inner city venue setting. Shelley feels the next step would be holding a festival style event outside, but recognises there is a lot of learning and work involved to put this into practice. The mentoring experience will be invaluable and crucial to develop the future of Pogo Events.
Project Description :
Experimenting with Sunday evening events, giving local musicians opportunity to perform on Sundays while making live performance accessible to musicians and the hospitality sector.
