Born in Greenwich, London, Smiler emerged on to the music scene in 2006 with the release of “Emancipation” which shot straight onto the playlist at BBC 1Xtra. Smiler’s impressive clarity, tone and technical lyrical ability caught the attention of the likes of DJ 279 (choice FM) who’s recommendation saw the mixtape Picked up and publicly endorsed by DJ Premier in the US, which lead to a personal invite by Marly Marl and Power 105.1FM, to New York where Smiler did the media circuit with such Hip Hop luminaries as Styles P and Mobb Deep.

Smiler’s most recent mixtape “Clarity” was in January 2010. Featuring collaborations from top UK acts including, Tinie Tempah and Roll Deep. His single “Enza”, received unprecedented support and accolades since the track broke online and video was released in April 2010. Publicly lauded on-air by musical heavy-weights such as Nas, Damien Marley, Big Boi and Kelly Rowland, was at one stage the most played track on the 1Xtra and with “Enza”. The video was also featured on several major TV channels.

Having completed a short tour on the Luminar circuit, Smiler performed at his packed out Showcase at Yoyo’s supported by US rapper Wale before flying to Glasgow for T in the Park festival and then went on to support Eddie Kadi at the O2 main Arena.

Smiler has started working on his 1st album which already features Pete Doherty, and is currently in talks with a handful of major labels.
