Sound and Music (TDN 2024)
Sound and Music is the national charity for new music. We support anyone who wants to make music and sound to shape the modern world. We enable individuals to challenge expectations and discover their potential, and act as a friendly guide for those who want to listen deeper. Our work sustains more careers, progresses creativity and achieves greater equity across music in the UK.We are guided by our Fair Access Principles, a code of best practice which ensures our work is open and inclusive for all.
In Motion is a new 18-month artist-led programme, making space for 10 composers to design and embark on their own creative and professional journey. During their time on the programme, the composers will develop their practice, explore new contexts for their work, make a new piece to present to an audience and support the next generation of young creators on our In the Making programme. The 10 composers will be given a financial grant, opportunities to network, and guidance from accredited coaches and our expert team. In Motion brings together 15 years of organisational learning. We know that each project is unique, from composer to composer, and that excites us! There isn’t one model that will or should fit everyone. Their outcomes might be an event, an album, a community project, a work in progress sharing or something else entirely that will take them to the next level in their career. In Motion has two phases: Discovery Phase (six months) – working with a creative project leader to develop creative ideas and Activity Phase (12 months) creating and producing the work, and presenting it to the public.
