Award-winning creative music charity Spitalfields Music is launching Open Call – a new initiative with the aim to nurture three cutting-edge music creators from diverse backgrounds, through opportunities to challenge their compositional practice and explore working in new ways.

Open Call seeks to produce outstanding new music that is relevant and integral to people’s lives, that questions big ideas, and challenges perceptions of how music can be created, performed and experienced.

Commissioned artists will access research and development, space and time, and receive producing support, a commission fee and project budget to create a piece responding to one of three provocations:

1. Hear my voice: Local community as collaborators
2. Towards 10 million Londoners: A changing landscape
3. Connecting worlds: Digital natives and live music

The musicians will be given a work-in-progress platform at Spitalfields Music’s Winter Festival in December 2016.
PRS is supporting Spitalfields Music to create conditions that encourage risk and keep curiosity at the heart of developing innovative and outstanding new music.
