Steffania Zoledowska : Early Career Promoter Fund
Steffania Marta Zoledowska has always been passionate about creating spaces for people to come together, helping out with small community festivals back at home, and researching the impact of music festivals during her Psychology degree. She has worked in the cultural events industry since 2017, across many different venues, festivals, and projects. In recent years, she has been dedicated to creating more accessible and safer event spaces where people can form more authentic and meaningful connections.
Her organisation LOOOMCOLLAB is a grassroots arts and music platform for underrepresented women and gender minority artists that showcases fresh and exciting new ways of musical expression. At LOOOM she creates talent development opportunities by facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations, themed around various socio-political concepts.
2024/2025 will be the time of “LOOOM – MIGRATING PERSPECTIVES” a project which aims to mediate the concept of immigration, often regarded as a taboo and charged with polarised perspectives. The direct experience of immigration is often disregarded and misunderstood, varying greatly based on personal circumstances and levels of privilege. LOOOM is meant to serve as a platform for sharing and deepening the understanding of those experiences, whilst strengthening the local community and a sense of belonging. The performances will be paired with workshops and/or talks to allow for an inclusive mediation of the theme.
The project will take place in the form of two events, one in November 2024 and the second in March/April 2025. Interdisciplinary artistic collaborations will be created involving live and electronic music, dance, AV art, experimental performance, and more (eg. a collaboration between a hip-hop dancer and a techno music producer). The aim is to allow musicians and artists involved in the process to test new approaches and take risks by pushing beyond their boundaries and learning from each other new ways of expression.
