Shakka

Shakka burst onto the scene in 2011 with The Shakka Crown Affair (mixtape). Following its success, Shakka created an online youtube series aptly titled ‘Shakkapellas’ where he covered popular songs by beatboxing each layer of the track. In 2013, Shakka featured on Wretch 32‘s ‘Blackout’ which charted at #6, released an EP entitled ‘Tribe’ and performed at Glastonbury. Shakka also toured globally with the legendary production duo Basement Jaxx.

In 2014, Shakka sold out three headline shows, then started 2015 off with a bang by unveiling ‘Rolling With Elephants Feat. Frisco’, an unofficial remix of the Ten Walls hit. It racked up over 500,000 plays on soundcloud and was played on Radio 1 and 1xtra. In March, Shakka sold out Islington O2 and later signed a record deal with Sony. He released his single ‘Say Nada’ in October and his new EP The Lost Boys in November. Say Nada received strong radio support and accumulated over three million YouTube views. In October Shakka delivered a breath-taking show at the Electric Ballroom and a few weeks later received a MOBO award for Best R’n’B/Soul. Shakka also performed at the MOBO awards show which was televised nationally. Last year also saw Shakka feature on tracks by Sigma, Lethal B, Frisco and Idris Elba. 2016 is set to be a huge year for the rising star and the PRS Foundation have made a performance at SXSW possible for Shakka where we are certain he’ll gain more fans and the attention of the US music industry.
