British Underground: Talent Development Fund 2017
For:
British Underground Talent Development Programme
British Underground is an established talent development agency focusing on international music showcasing for artists outside the mainstream.
They will deliver at least five international showcasing stages and networking programmes in partnership with sector specialists where there is a recognized need. The programmes will focus on music-makers outside the mainstream who are ‘export ready’ and new to the concept and practice of export and performing abroad. The outcomes of these showcases will be personal artistic development and a measurable increase in industry opportunities. Supporting this activity will be a full spectrum of artist and professional development activity including digital toolkit and guidance, boot-camps and orientation sessions plus umbrella logistics, marketing and PR campaigns.
PRS Foundation investment will help us enhance the artist support around this programme as well as helping us create a digital legacy through enabling content capture of performances. Being part of the Talent Development Partner programme will increase British Underground’s access to the best of the UK talent pool and the on-the-ground experts needed to recognize when artists are ‘export ready’.
They will also deliver a talent development programme where there is a less defined route to market in partnership with curators, local cultural and industry organizations focusing on touring showcases, business development and collaboration. Since 2013 British Underground has produced several music projects in Brazil starting with our pioneering cultural exchange programme, Bass Culture Clash, an exploration of the synergy between bass and reggae music in the UK and Brazil.
