Serious: Talent Development Fund 2017

For:

Serious Talent Development Programme

Serious has two festivals in 2017 that will present a range of work by British music creators: Serious Space Shoreditch in May (Presented at Rich Mix in London) and the EFG London Jazz Festival in November, presented in venues of all sizes across the capital. The PRS Foundation support is contributing to both of these events.

Serious Space Shoreditch is a six-night festival creating a space for experimentation, focused on presenting premieres, collaborations and innovative new work.

EFG London Jazz Festival is the UK’s largest pan-city celebration of jazz and provides opportunities for British music creators to develop their careers and audiences across a range of platforms. The 2017 programme will include live performances of new works and/or new collaborations by established and emerging British artists,  a large scale participation called ‘A Brief History of the Coolest Instrument in the World’ devised by Chris Montague and performed by non-professional guitarists of all ages and abilities in London and at Hull Jazz Festival, a strand called ‘Jazz of All Genders’ that will highlight the skill and diversity of the current crop of British female band leaders, behind-the-scenes mentoring of emerging artists Dee Byrne and Cath Roberts, who run LUME.
