Talent Development Partner 2017: Sound and Music

For:

Sound and Music Talent Development Programme

Sound and Music is the national charity for new music. Through our Talent Development Programme we provide artistic and professional development opportunities for creators and composers working in every genre, in every region of the UK, at every stage of their careers.

Our Talent Development Programme supported by the PRS Foundation, includes residencies, touring opportunities, coaching and mentoring, and networking events. It engages a broad range of composers who are seeking to develop their talent either in creating innovative new work, or in curating and producing ground-breaking new music events and series.

Sound and Music actively seeks to work with a wide range of musical styles and we broker residencies for our composers from our diverse network of national and regional partners – including Southbank Centre, Heart n Soul, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Paraorchestra, The Sage Gateshead, and Sound Scotland. As a result our composers create hugely diverse work in every genre. Last year our Talent Development Programme worked with composers producing work ranging from Ghanaian Highlife music, bio-instrument sound installations, group generated code-music, contemporary classical works for small ensembles and orchestras, opera, jazz, free-improv, Japanese Noh, and compositions written for table by a western-trained composer.
