Heart and Soul: Talent Development Partner
Heart n Soul is an award-winning creative arts company and charity that believes in the talents and power of people with learning disabilities.
As PRS Foundation’s Talent Development Partner, our funding will support year-round activities at Heart n Soul where people with learning disabilities can discover and develop their talents through a range of creative opportunities.
Our creative arts programming, consists of two strands – Allsorts, for adults (18-65+), and Do Your Own Thing, for young people (aged 10-25). Participants also have the opportunity to take part in Heart n Soul’s digital music making project, SoundLab. It explores ways of using cutting edge music technology to encourage people with learning disabilities to create music and sound experiences, while working with technology companies to make their equipment as accessible as possible.
Selected Heart n Soul participants go on to take part in an artist development programme, where Heart n Soul brings together people with and without disabilities to create, release and perform or display new and exciting work. Heart n Soul artists include The Fish Police, a neurodiverse band who, with the support of the PRS Foundation International Showcase Fund, performed and hosted a panel at the prestigious South by Southwest festival in Texas in March 2018.
Heart n Soul creates regular opportunities for artists to share their work with as wide an audience as possible, including at regular inclusive club nights, as well as through major festivals and events at national cultural venues, such as the Southbank Centre.
