Sage Gateshead: Talent Development Partner 2018

Sage Gateshead is an international music centre situated on the banks of the River Tyne. We are home to Royal Northern Sinfonia, Folkworks, an extensive creative learning programme and a diverse concert and festival programme. In the past 2 years, Sage Gateshead has worked to develop the best ways of supporting music creators and the 18/19 talent development programme will focus on emerging artists.

In 2018 Sage Gateshead will play host to Great Exhibition of the North, providing opportunities to greatly expand the current talent development programme as a spotlight is shone on the region. Summer Studio will take place over 4 weeks and will award 28 creative residencies to music creators who will be supported through a series of clinics with industry professionals and established artists, recording sessions and performance opportunities, with a focus on creative development.

New Year New Artists will offer a platform to develop new audiences for music creators in the North East through performance opportunities and by working in partnership with local media. Audiences will be able to engage with music creators through performances, discussions and online content such as podcasts.

In 2018/19 our Associate Artists will include an opportunity for a young conductor to work with our Youth Ensemble, Young Sinfonia. This individual will also be invited to lead on selected Royal Northern Sinfonia projects in the 18/19 Classical Season based in our world class venue.
