Sound and Music: Talent Development Partner 2018

Sound and Music is the national charity for new music.  brokered residencies for composers from our diverse network of national and regional partners – including Southbank Centre, Heart n Soul, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Paraorchestra, British Library, Open Data Institute, Cafe Oto, The Sage Gateshead, and Sound Scotland.

As Partners with The PRS Foundation,  we provide artistic and professional development opportunities for talented composers and artists creating original new music and sound in every genre, in every region of the UK, at every stage of their careers. We support composers to explore and realize their own creative ideas and ambitions, in their own style, and in their own way.

Through our Talent Development Programme, we engage in a broad range of composers who are seeking to develop their talent either in creating innovative new work, or in curating and producing ground-breaking new music events and series. We also provide; residencies, touring opportunities, coaching and mentoring support, and networking events.

Over the last few years Sound and Music’s Talent Development Programme has supported participating composers to produce work ranging from Ghanaian Highlife music, bio-instrument sound installations, group generated code-music, contemporary classical works for small ensembles and orchestras, opera, jazz, free-improv, Japanese Noh, and compositions written for tabla by a western-trained composer.
