Drake Music: Talent Development Partner 2019
Drake Music (DM) is England’s leading organisation specialising in the intersection of music, disability and technology. Our charity’s mission is to increase participation in music making from beginner through to emerging and professional levels and in doing this, to break down disabling barriers through the use of technology.
Alongside Drake Music Scotland and Heart n Soul, Drake Music (DM) is England’s organisation leading on the artistic excellence of Disabled musician practice when involving technology. DM provides music-making activities that observe the Social Model of Disability, utilising technology to break down disabling barriers facing musicians from beginners to professionals.
Five commissions will be confirmed in 2019/20. One will be for ‘Planted Symphony’ an outdoor arts collaboration with Arts and Gardens, which will be created in 2019 and is due to debut in early 2020 in London. In September 2019, following an open call inviting Disabled musicians of any genre to apply, there will be four other commissions of emerging Disabled musicians in all English regions.
