Future Bubblers: Talent Development Partner 2019

Future Bubblers is the new talent discovery and development arm of the Gilles Peterson and Brownswood Music family. Launched in April 2015 – the intention is to make new inroads across England, both musically and geographically. They are aiming to uplift and support young artists creating the most innovative new music, and provide opportunities and awareness for local audiences to enjoy this more “outside-the-box” sound too. They are selecting 10 “Bubblers” candidates each year to be paired with industry mentors and receive real-life music industry advice and development in tune with the individual vision for their own sound. The project is also working in a focus city each year it’s is active to host free music events, workshops, panels and vibes for the local community to experience and appreciate musical styles that are often most under-represented.

Securing PRSF Talent Development Partner funding has allowed both levels of the project to develop and expand beyond original plans. Filming and producing live session videos in the form of “Brownswood Basement Session” performances for each of the Year 4 candidates will prove invaluable to their development as live artists and their potential to play out on stages across the country, and secondly it will enable the recording and release of the third edition of the project’s compilation series, “Future Bubblers 3.0” – a controlled and positive experience of recording, releasing and promoting music for the Bubblers.
