English Folk Dance and Song Society: Talent Development Fund 2020
EFDSS is the only development agency for the English folk arts, working across England and beyond to support the creative development of and provide performance opportunities for professional artists to expand reach and encourage the development and understanding of the folk arts supported by our designated library and archive.
The English Folk Dance & Song Society is the national development organisation for the English folk arts. Its aim is to preserve, promote and develop the English folk arts through national programmes of artists’ development and education and learning, and so engage more people with the folk arts.
2020 – 2021:
Supporting artists in the creative exploration and performance of English folk music through creative bursaries and residencies, and showcase performances at UK festivals and venues.
The creative bursaries programme is open to music artists in England from any genre who wish to undertake creative research and development working with English folk music.
Artists must be living and working in the UK and their proposals can be cross-arts/cross-genre as long as the primary art form is English folk music. We welcome applications from soloists, existing artistic collaborators and new artistic collaborators.
The showcases are for new and emerging folk music artists, and established artists presenting new projects, providing a performance platform at one of three festivals (Yorkshire, SW and NW England) and/or Cecil Sharp House, London.
