English Folk Dance and Song Society: Talent Development Fund 2020
The English Folk Dance & Song Society (EFDSS) is the national development organisation for the English folk arts. Its aim is to preserve, promote and develop the English folk arts through national programmes of artists’ development and education and learning, and so engage more people with the folk arts. EFDSS support the creative development of new and emerging and mid-career folk music artists through showcases and a bursary programme providing funding and rehearsal space to undertake research and development into a new music and cross-genre creations with English folk at their core.
The bursary programme is named the Alan James Creative Bursary Programme in memory of EFDSS late Chair who spent his life encouraging and supporting the development of creative artists.
‘It has been a difficult year and our showcase partnerships with festivals were all cancelled. Fortunately, we were enabled to use the funding towards this activity to increase the number of Creative Bursaries we were able to offer.’
