2020 – 2021: Continued support of musicians through development opportunities, primarily through the Sonic Youths (14-19 yrs), Pony Up and HARK initiatives for emerging and mid-career artists.
Sonic Youths is tailored to the development of musicians aged 14-19 in the indie rock/pop, hip-hop, jazz and electronic genres. Welcoming demo submissions from across the region aiming for a mix of genre, gender and ethnicity. Pony Up events focus on emerging and mid-career artists across ages creating original music in the rock/pop, hip-hop, spoken word genres. HARK promotes electronic artists with emphasis on providing opportunities to ‘bedroom producers’ lacking performance experience. In general, NAC supports musicians across all genres year-round with a push towards regional supports. NAC has an ‘open door’ policy regarding advice and signposting.
‘Norwich Arts Centre has been closed to the public for the majority of 2020-21 so we have taken the opportunity to accelerate planned capital refurbishment to enable us to be in a better position when live music is able to return. We have deferred our talent development work to next year’
