Performances Birmingham Limited: Talent Development Fund 2020

PBL is a registered charity, managing Birmingham’s iconic concert venues Town Hall and Symphony Hall (THSH). Each year PBL programme 800 concerts annually of jazz, folk, world, classical, rock, pop for audiences of over 550,000. PBL’s Jazzlines initiative programmes over 116 gigs each year and is key to the UK jazz infrastructure, nurturing new talent and performance opportunities.

2020 – 2021:

Jazzlines Talent Development Programme will champion new music, performance and connect communities in Birmingham and the UK jazz scene through a series of creative projects.

PBL will work with music creators who are predominantly from a jazz background but will continue to build links with the varied musical communities in Birmingham. The Jazzlines Ensembles project and Summer Schools strands of the Jazzlines Talent Development Programme support young musicians from 10 to 19 years, alongside Peer Mentors aged 19 and above. Through the Rise Up initiative (for female aged 18-25) and the Jazzlines Commission (for young musicians aged 18 and above), assistance will be given to music creators at the beginning or mid-point of their careers to progress and succeed in their chosen areas.
