Psappha: Talent Development Fund 2020

Established in 1991, Manchester-based Psappha is recognised as a premier performer of new music nationally and internationally. As the only specialist stand-alone, professional contemporary classical ensemble in the North of England, Psappha play a pivotal role in supporting and developing talented composers across all career stages.

Psappha has a passion for creating and performing contemporary classical music. In the past 28 years they have commissioned hundreds of composers and inspired audiences with new music made in the heart of Manchester by world-class musicians. Supporting and developing talented music creators is central to their mission.

2020 – 2021:

World-class specialist contemporary classical ensemble Psappha: supporting composers through workshops, rehearsals, composer schemes, commissions, world premieres and repeat performances, film-recordings and online dissemination.

As a specialist contemporary classical ensemble Psappha’s principal focus is supporting contemporary classical composers. We also support cross-genre work featuring eg electronic, jazz, and world music.

Working with composers at all career stages; in 2020-21 Psappha will support emerging, early-career, mid-career and established composers. Composers who are establishing and developing their careers will continue to be their main TDP programme focus.

Psappha’s ‘Composing For’ schemes attracts emerging and early-career composers from across the UK. Their Manchester Season combines a regional focus with an international outlook – supporting composers from the region, the UK, and beyond.
