Sage Gateshead: Talent Development Fund 2020

Sage Gateshead is the centre for musical excellence in the North East – unique in providing world-class resources, facilities and performance platforms, supporting the career development of music creators across genres with particular specialisms in Folk, Jazz, Classical and Americana and creating exceptional opportunities for creative and professional development.

Sage Gateshead is a music centre for the 21st century situated on the banks of the River Tyne, in the North East. Home to three world-class concert halls, a music education centre and an artistic programme that operates across: Artistic Excellence & Innovation, Music Education and Social Impact.

2020 – 2021:

Sage Gateshead Talent Development Programme 2020 – developing early career artists through residencies, festivals, industry skills, health advice and a new performance series championing diversity.

Sage Gateshead Talent Development Programme 2020 will support exceptional emerging music creators across genres, including classical, jazz, folk, pop and alt/indie, prioritising artists based in the North East. Artists participating in Summer Studio will be unsigned, self-managed and may be at any career stage but most will be early career. Artists in Residence will have achieved some recognition and may be signed or have management.

Opportunities for artists who identify as disabled or affected by socio-economic disadvantage will be embedded across all talent development activity, with a target of 50% of artists in these categories for Summer Studio.
