The Warren Youth Project: Talent Development Fund 2020

The Warren is a resource centre in Hull offering entirely free services to 16-25 year olds. Music specific work includes – recording studio, rehearsal space, record label, music industry conference, live events and careers training, record store and more which empower and engage the most marginalised and vulnerable.

Warren Records is a youth-led music industries project offering free support, mentorship, talent development and career opportunities to young people in the Humber and East Yorkshire region. Warren Records engage and empower young creators to overcome barriers and work as a community to develop and celebrate new music.

2020 – 2021: ‘Doing It Together’ seeks out and develops new music while encouraging collaboration and community skillsharing to grow the DIY scene and bring together creative talent.

Warren Records intend to offer one-to-one advice and mentorship to 16-25 year olds in the Humber and East Yorkshire regions who are facing barriers when accessing music industry support. The development programme will engage entry level to mid-level talent who span genres such as – alternative/indie, singer-songwriter, electronic, rap/grime, and welcoming any other genre of music. Warren Records specialise in engaging young talent who may have previously struggled to access music services due to social, economic, physical and mental barriers. They also engage other young people in behind the scenes music industry roles.

‘The Warren’s Talent Development Programme has helped our group to become self sustainable and has provided us with the equipment and knowledge to start running our own workshops and train others in DJing and performance (Make Noise, October 2020)’
