Cheltenham Festivals of Jazz and Music 2016, will feature a diverse range of musical creators and their music.
With support from the PRS for Music Foundation as a Talent Development Partner Cheltenham Festivals of Jazz and Music will host their 4th Composer Academy. In the first three years they have welcomed over 50 young composers for week long programme of intensive workshops, professional development seminars and attendance of concerts. In 2016, for the first time, it includes a complementary and integrating timetable for 16 to 18-year-old composers.
Cheltenham Jazz Festival (27th April – 2nd May 2016) will feature home-grown talent and up-and-coming new artists. British composer Alexander Hawkins’ commission will be performed as a large-scale outdoor performance moving through the festival site. There will also be a UK premiere of Let It Be Told by saxophonist Julian Arguelles.
Cheltenham Music Festival (1st – 17th July 2016) features The Keyboard Inventions strand, who will explore Erik Satie’s experimental legacy as well as premieres and recent work from Jonathan Dove, Dave Maric, Kathy Hinde, Arlene Sierra, Neil Luck, Adam de la Cour, Will Gregory and more.
