Manchester Jazz: Talent Development Partner
For:
CPD Mentoring for MJF 2016 and 2017 Commissioned Composers; CPD Sessions for Northern Jazz Music Creators; and the New Music Component of the 2016 Festival.
Manchester Jazz Festival (MJF) is a 10 day celebration of fresh and innovative contemporary music spread across the City centre at the end of July each year. The festival is positioned at the hub of jazz talent development in the North, and from the outset, MJF’s priority has been to encourage new music.
Through support from the PRS for Music Foundation as a Talent Development Partner the Manchester Jazz Festival will deliver MJF Originals, a flagship scheme for the commissioning of new jazz works, over the next 12 months. This opportunity will be enriched by the offer of a 12 month programme of complementary learning and mentoring activity, tailored to composers’ individual needs. The festival will also produce a series of Get More Gigs seminars across the North, targeting commissioned composers and early to mid-career jazz composer-musicians living and working in the North.
