Sage Gateshead is an international home for music and musical discovery in the North East of England which, in its first ten years, has delivered 4,000 concerts, seen 1.5 million people participate in music learning and welcomed over 6 million visitors. The quality and nature of the facilities and the breadth of the programme make Sage Gateshead unique because it can nurture music creators from all genres, abilities and career levels.

In the coming year Sage Gateshead will use the Talent Development Partnership to formalise its commitment to music creators in the North East by strengthening progression routes and creating the circumstances in which music creators want to stay and create exciting new music in the region. This will include a composer in residence programme with youth ensembles across Classical, Jazz, Folk and Choral music genres, as well as performance, marketing, fundraising, mentoring, and recording opportunities. Sage Gateshead will also Host a cross-genre showcase festival, New Year New Artists in 2017, providing artists to perform to taste-makers, industry guests and new audiences.
