Sound is a new music organisation based in North-East Scotland, passionate about new music and creativity they share this passion by attracting new audiences to the adventure of discovering new work. Sound promote performances, talks and workshops in both urban and rural settings, predominantly during soundfestival, Scotland’s festival of new music, as well as through year-round education and performance opportunities, including Curious, a monthly food and contemporary performance event at Woodend Barn in Banchory.

One of Sound’s main aims is to nurture talent. With support from the PRS for Music Foundation as a Talent Development Partner, Sound will commission a number of UK composers and give their work its first performance, allowing them to do this through opportunities such as residencies and offering them space and time to develop work. This allows Sound to put less well-known creators work beside more established composers and to widen the opportunities for development for up-and-coming and younger composers, giving them opportunities to learn from established creators and contemporary music performers.
