Britten Pears Arts: Talent Development Partner 2019

A world-famous music venue and artist development hub, Britten Pears Arts is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Suffolk coast.

The Residency programme is centred around exciting, adventurous ideas from interesting artists who are in need of development time. We provide a supportive, safe environment to be creative, curious, to play, to make and to experiment. Our focus is on giving artists the space to develop new skills and reach their full potential.

Residencies are fully supported with use of the Snape Maltings facilities and resources, from space, equipment and tech support through to consultation, input and feedback from our expert staff team. In addition, Residencies can lead to other opportunities within the organisation, including commissions, performances or taking part in other activity such as community projects.

Britten Pears Arts are committed to ensuring that all artists are able to access this valuable opportunity. Therefore, in addition to the practical support of the Residency itself, artists are provided with free accommodation and meals, and have their travel costs covered.

We know that there are still many reasons why, even with this support, some artists are unable to come on a Residency. With the PRS Foundation we have been developing an added support package, which will be increased in 2019. Artists will be able to apply for a means-tested support budget, which they can use as needed to cover whatever additional costs are preventing them from taking up a Residency place.
