Simon Dobson: The Composers’ Fund

Composer, multi-instrumentalist and conductor Simon Dobson is about to embark on his most ambitious project to date, a follow up to his 2014 solo composition album, Euneirphorenia.
Having spent most of the last four years since his first release engaged in various commissions and conducting projects Simon finds it is now time to write from his heart, unconstrained by contracts and labels once again. Simons second album will be a departure from his first, with less heavy reliance on UK style brass band and more electronic and ‘band’ orientated material. This album will endeavour to show the other side of Simons musical output; songs, textures and tunes as opposed to programatic pieces. Simon is a three time British Composer Award (BASCA) winner and works as the principal conductor of the London based Parallax Orchestra. Alongside writing to commission Simon is a sought after studio arranger, orchestral arranger and conductor, writing for and conducting amongst others the Heritage Orchestra, The Metropole Orkest and the Southbank Sinfonia. Simon also plays trumpet live with various acts and bands as well as having busy festival seasons with his own band the Badcore Horns and playing for other acts as a session musician in studios across the UK. Simon has written string and brass arrangements for more than 50 record and continues to push his own boundaries in every direction he can.
