The Glasshouse International Centre for Music (TDN 2024)
The Glasshouse is a world-class centre for performance, education, and artist development in the North East of England. Our building is a place where people can hear rock legends and pop icons on the same night as folk trios and symphony orchestras. It’s a place where new musicians are nurtured and showcased on the same stages as platinum-selling performers. Where toddlers and youth choirs practise in the same space as our critically acclaimed chamber orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia. We champion diversity, supporting musicians of all genres and stages, by sharing our world-class facilities and empowering artists locally and beyond.
The Glasshouse’s Artist Development Programme will help emerging music creators thrive, offering a holistic approach to talent cultivation. Through high-quality performance opportunities, residencies, commissions, and creative development, we provide transformative support for diverse artists at every stage of their journey. Our programme supports early-career and established creators, spanning classical, folk, experimental, indie, rock, hip hop, and pop genres. Our inclusivity mirrors the vibrant demographics of the North East, prioritising socio-economic backgrounds and disability. Leveraging our digital expertise, we facilitate the creation of digital works, collaborating with our partners to foster innovation and broaden artistic horizons.
