The Last Siren is a semi-improvised monodrama featuring vocalist Lauren Kinsella and Ireland’s leading sound art collective The Quiet Club; Belgrade-based Ksenija Krnajski is the director. Composer Ian Wilson devised the concept and wrote the libretto and contributes live electronics in performance.

A woman trawls a beach every day, collecting bits and pieces of debris. Her only companion is Horsey; the two other figures that also seem to be present in her world pay her no attention. She talks and sings to herself – to Horsey – trying to make sense of her situation, her very long life and how it all came to this. And where did her sister go?

The Last Siren digs down into a mythical story and discovers a very human one underneath.

We are delighted to announce that The Last Siren will be toured in Ireland and the UK in 2015; this tour is made possible with funding through Beyond Borders from the PRS for Music Foundation, Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Ireland, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the Arts Council of Wales.

Tour partners include the Sound Festival in Aberdeen (SCO), the Crescent Arts Centre and Moving on Music in Belfast (N.IRE) and The Model and Con Brio in Sligo (IRE). The tour is scheduled to take place between September and November 2015 – full details will be announced in due course.
