The Music Works: TDN 2026

Short Project Title: Upsurge – Talent Development Programme

Bio: The Music Works’ core aim is to transform lives through music. We design and deliver programmes that break down barriers to accessing and making music, creating meaningful musical, social and personal outcomes for the young people who need it most. Specialising in working with those facing additional barriers in learning and life, we use creative projects to build confidence, self-belief and motivation, empowering young people to reach their full potential.

Programme Description: Upsurge is The Music Works’ ground-breaking artist development and creative programme for young people from challenging circumstances and those who are underrepresented within the creative industries. It provides real-world industry work experience, mentoring, networking and training opportunities for 18-30-year-olds wanting to work in the creative industries. We focus on reaching NEET (not in education, employment or training) young people from deprived communities across Gloucestershire and those who have additional barriers to gaining employment or success as an artist, musician or creator. By offering a support structure to those struggling to move forward, and giving them creative skills and industry knowledge as well as personal resilience, confidence and networks, we help them turn their lives around and achieve real success.
